Timberyard Lane 2, 4 & 6

About This Project

Location: The site, in the Cliffe area of Lewes in Sussex, was once a group of garages and had largely fallen into disrepair. In October 2000 much of Lewes was badly affected by flooding, with parts of the site under three feet of water.

Design: A local firm of architects BBM Sustainable Design were appointed to undertake the design for a residential scheme. The design was for a terrace of three houses. As well as flood risk mitigation we undertook some contaminated land remediation and overcame difficult ground conditions with a piled foundation system designed and installed by Abbey Pynford.

Construction: The ground floors were of masonry construction, with timber frame upper floors, and the building was then cedar clad. Work on the building started in July 2004 with completion in September 2005.
