Location: Set on the South West bank of the River Ouse in Lewes town centre, this new development replaces the existing run down commercial buildings.
Design: The project involves demolition of the existing buildings, strengthening and part rebuilding of the river wall and construction of seven exclusive new houses, each with private parking, riverside terrace and balconies with three houses also benefitting from roof terraces. The houses have floor areas of between 111 and 192 square metres (1197 to 2072 square feet).
The scheme, designed by architect Jon Turner, has a flood resilient ground floor so that in the event that flood defences are breached the buildings will withstand water inundation and can be quickly and simply returned to normal use, reducing cost and inconvenience for the owners.
